Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2, 2026

At Dime n Dine, your privacy is a priority. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect. We collect information you provide directly, including your email address, password, household size, dietary preferences, health goals, biometrics (such as age, sex, weight, height, and activity level), cycle phase inputs, family health history and genetic predispositions you choose to share (such as type 2 diabetes or high blood pressure), food allergies and intolerances, your 5-digit ZIP code (used solely to determine regional grocery chains and price estimates — we do not track precise GPS or device location), pantry and fridge inventory, saved meals, and grocery list data. We also collect app usage data and analytics to improve the service.

2. How We Use Your Data. We use your information to create personalized meal plans, generate grocery lists, estimate costs and macros, improve recipe recommendations, and provide a tailored wellness experience. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Email communications. We may send you transactional emails (such as password resets and account notices), onboarding messages, founding-member promo or discount codes, and product updates. Every non-essential email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time without affecting your account.

3. Data Storage and Security. Your data is stored securely through managed cloud infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest. We implement industry-standard access controls and security practices. However, no online service can guarantee 100% security.

4. AI and Third-Party Processing. Some features use artificial intelligence and third-party APIs, including OpenAI, to generate recipes, meal plans, and estimates. When you use these features, relevant data (such as dietary preferences and pantry items) may be transmitted to OpenAI for processing. We only share the minimum information necessary and do not allow OpenAI or other providers to use your data for training or marketing purposes.

Our service providers include:

  • Lovable Cloud — app hosting, authentication, and database storage.
  • OpenAI — recipe and meal-plan generation and recipe-link parsing. Only minimal culinary context (dietary rules, allergens to avoid, pantry items, meal targets) is sent; never your email or name.
  • PostHog — pseudonymous product analytics (no health data).
  • Stripe — payment processing for any paid subscriptions. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Pexels, Unsplash, and TheMealDB — recipe photo search (recipe titles only; no personal data).

5. Cookies and Analytics. We may use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session and analyze app usage. We use a product analytics provider (PostHog) to understand how people move through the app — for example, which screens are visited and which buttons are tapped — so we can fix confusing steps and improve the experience. Analytics events are linked only to a random, pseudonymized account identifier. We do not send your email address, biometrics, body measurements, cycle data, health goals, allergen list, dietary restrictions, or the content of any feedback you submit to our analytics provider or to any advertising network, and we do not use your personal information for third-party advertising or behavioral ad targeting. You can adjust your browser or device settings to limit cookie use, though this may affect functionality.

6. US & California (CCPA) User Rights. If you are a resident of the United States, including California, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request a portable copy of your personal data.
  • Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
  • Request deletion of your personal data and account.
  • Opt out of any future sale of personal information (Dime n Dine does not sell personal information).

To exercise these rights, open the Identity & Goals tab in the app, where you can review and update your preferences at any time or use the Delete account & data button to permanently erase your account and all associated data. You may also email us at dimendineapp@gmail.com. We will respond to verified requests within the timeframes required by applicable law.

7. Consumer Health Data and Consent. Some information you may share — biometrics, cycle phase, family health history, and allergies — may be considered consumer health data under state laws such as Washington's My Health My Data Act. We collect it only when you choose to provide it, which serves as your consent, and use it solely to personalize meal recommendations and nutrition estimates. We never sell it or use it for advertising. You can withdraw consent at any time by turning these options off or removing them in Identity & Goals, or delete all of it instantly with Delete account & data.

8. Data Retention. We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You may delete your account at any time, and we will remove your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.

9. Children's Privacy. Dime n Dine is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, email dimendineapp@gmail.com so we can delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted in the app or communicated to you. Continued use of the service after updates means you accept the revised policy.

11. Contact. For privacy-related questions or to exercise your rights, email us at dimendineapp@gmail.com.
